The "Governor for a Day" event is a cherished tradition in the Texas Legislature, celebrating the President Pro Tempore of the Texas Senate. This role is both an honor and a testament to the individual's service and dedication to our great state. The event symbolizes the temporary passing of gubernatorial powers to the honoree for a day, recognizing their significant contributions to Texas governance.
Serving as Chairman for the Senate Committee on Business and Commerce, Senator Schwertner has been a steadfast advocate for a vast variety of relevant issues that pass through the committee, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to the people of Texas. This event will not only honor his service but also celebrate his achievements alongside distinguished guests from across the state.

Contributions to this event will not only help honor Senator Schwertner but all funds raised will be donated to charities throughout Senate District 5 which benefits our communities and state.
These include Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center, Scotty’s House Children's Advocacy Center, Children's Advocacy Center serving Bastrop, Lee, and Fayette Counties, and the HEARTS Veterans Museum of Texas.
